Will I be charged for overseas texting if I'm texting to an Itouch app (textnow)?

I have AT&T unlimited texting nationwide. Not oveseas. Will I be charged extra for texting my friend in Spain on his itouch? He is using the TextNow application, and says that it's a stateside deal so I won't be charged. But I really would like to be sure before I do so.
