Will I be eliminated from becoming a cop for being depressed in the past?

I want to protect and serve. but I heard from a yahoo member that having been depressed in the passed will eliminate you from being a police or cop but dont know if this is true please help. I really wanted to be a cop since 11 grade I am planing on mabe serving a few years in the military. I live in California and planning to apply in CA los angeles or Arkansas Rogers
