Will I ever be able to let a husky off-leash (during a walk/hike)?

Everywhere I read it says if you let a siberian husky off lead it's like basically setting it free and it will never come back. Is there anything I can do to not do that? Every other dog I own I can trust off lead because it always comes back. I'd like to be able to do this with a husky, but truthfully, I don't want to buy a companion that will just run away.

My dog went off her leash yesterday for the first time in 7 years- shes seven years old. It's all a matter of trust and getting to know you dog. She's a jack russell terrier and easily distracted and used to run off to other dogs. every dog can be trained to walk by your side if you train it well on a leash.

If it is a well trained husky yes let it of the leach on walks on but on hikes never let any dog off a leach it will run no mader how trained it is
