Will I lose permanent residency if I stay out of US more than 180 days?

Hi,

Im In Italy stuck by the volcano activity,

i left the US on NOV 05 2009 and I need to get back by May 03,

Will I lose Permanent residency status If I re enter after MAy 03?
can I contact immigration to explain my problem? is there anything I can do?

please advice
