Will iPhone 4th gen Apps automatically resize to 3rd gen?

I'm making an App for iPod/iPhone 4th Gen, and am wondering if I should make the screen size as big as the 3rd gen or as 4th gen, or should I make both? I just want to know if it will automatically resize the correct size of the screen it is being displayed on.
