Will it help to charge the battery to kickstart my 125 Honda?

Sorry for the probably dumb question but I have a Honda 125 (two stroke of course) that I have trouble starting. It sat all winter without me being able to start it. Will charging the batter help or doesn't that make a difference on a kick-start bike?
It's an old bike (89 I think) but it does have a battery.

never heard of a honda 125 two stroke having a battery. Change the plug, drain the gas and put fresh gas in it. add some lucas gas treatment to it than kick away. if you let your bike sit for long periods ot time put some gas treatment in the tank to keep the gas from gumming up.
