reinstall the drive? My cd/dvd drive on my computer isn't working. I think it is missing a driver file. A friend told my to uninstall the drive, then reboot the computer and it would reinstall the drive. Does this really work? i don't want to mess anything up further.
I have windows 7. When I look at my drive under device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark there. It says the can't load the driver. It may be corrupt or missing.

If you uninstall the drive the operating system will detect it upon restart and install it unless the is a problem with upper/lower filters or software issues.Look at device manager, can you see the drive there?Does it have a yellow exclamation mark?
