Window 7 Gadget not displaying certain characters?

I am running gadgets on Windows 7 and am not able to get the entire gadget showing. Example: on the calendar gadget, the arrows to change the month forwards or backwards just show as a red X in a white box for each arrow. Much like a browser does and you need to click on "download images". Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

If it is a 3rd party gadget (non-microsoft) then the author should have included all the characters necessary.There may be a bug with that particular program or you may just need to re-install it.

If it is a Microsoft program,there may may be a bug that will be fixed in the next version.Check for a newer version or roll back to an earlier version.
