After legitimately downloading a paid-for film to HD, it began to play on Realplayer when Windows Media Player popped up with an Update to v.11 which, once installed, refuses to play the film or to permit Realplayer/DivX/VLC to play it, even after rolling back v.11. On going to the Microsoft Help page, everything is pronounced in order, but... WMP is still playing other films, such as those on DVD. The programme access/defaults are set to Use Current and Permit WMP/Real. Anyone else find themselves in this Catch 22?

Real Player 11 for some unknown reason will play DVD's in full video but absolutely no audio. Windows Media 11 needs a DVD player update and I use nVidia plug-in. Nero Showtime will also play DVD's properly

XPpro SP2/IE7

just open the Windows media player or Real player or what ever program you want to watch with, go to top left n click on file and open your movie from there only and enjoy ur movie.

I am sure these steps will help you->
1.Insert your DVD or HDDVD
2.Windows Media Player will pop up
3.Close the movie
4. Go to computer
5. Right click on DVD drive
6. and click open Auto Play
7. Choose default programs
8. and find your real player or whichever you want to and apply it.
9. Eject the DVD
10. insert the DVD again and enjoy the movie

Right click the movie file you want to watch - click 'Properties'
and you'll see 'opens with.....Windows Movie Player' next to that there's a box with 'Change' written in it. Click that and choose Real or VLC. :)
