Wired PS3 keeps disconnecting from internet every five minutes?

I just bought a ps3 this morning, put it on the internet (wired) and tried playstation home. It kept disconnecting during the download, and still disconnects every five minutes. I turned off media sharing (as advised on other sites), contacted isp to open ports and they refused and said to contact sony who then told me to contact my isp and neither of them will do anything. How can I fix this???
Also I'm using the same cable I was using for my wii, which never disconnected at all, so I know it's not the cable.
Nothing else is disconnecting on the network at all, so I doubt it's my internet provider.
I'm already using a wired router :/
 
Are you using a router? If you are not then i suggest you do. It will split the connection. Its worth the money. I have one and it never fails. Just make sure you are buying a wired router and not a wireless router. Big difference. Good luck!!
 
its your internet provider because you are timing out and its causing you to disconnect try resetting your modem
