when i set up my wireless internet router i got my room mate to check if it worked on her laptop
i know that the details she put in would have saved and i think she uses my bandwidth
whenever she turns her laptop on a message pops up on my laptop saying that "a wireless device has logged on"
how do i change it so she cannot use my internet settings anymore?

is there a way to change my password or something?
she tells me that she doesnt use it but i know she does!

Go into the wireless routers settings and set up encryption (WPA-PSK) and give it a good password that she can't guess.

To get into the settings you need to connect your pc to the router by ethernet cable. you can't access the settings over the wireless link.
Once you have the cable connected open up Internet Explorer and type in the IP address of the router in the address field of IE. it will be something like this 192.168.1.1 . If it is a Lynksys router it will be 192.168.1.15.

Read the routers book at it will tell you the ip address.

Once you get into the settings go to the wireless section and select Encryption and set it to WPA-PSK. Then select a GOOD password.

Assuming you have a security on the router, then you can simply change your passphrase. Some routers give you 4 keys, so simply choose another one.

You might have to connect yourself directly to the router in order to do this, as you will lose access as you change the key.

You can change the password on it. Depending on what service you are using, you would need to access a password change differently. I use at&t and mine is pretty easy to change. I would check your service provider's website for specific instructions. Mine has an online chat feature which is nice because you don't have to call and there's always someone available within a minute or so.

there is a way to change the pass code of you internet provider, it depends on the device youre working with and the wireless provider, check out with customer service they may be able to help you out
