this is what you're working with....

this bike hasn't run since the 70's. somewhere in that time, someone took the ignition switch off of it, and there's a bundle of a few wires hanging there where the ignition switch would have otherwise been..
In order to get this bike working, i need to know if the electrical system works. I can't test the electrical system without knowing what wires to connect to each other to create a closed circuit in order to excite the coils when it is kick started... in other words, i need to hotwire it but i don't know which wires REALLY do what..
i know red is positive, i know grey turns the tail light on, i know orange makes a spark when i touch it to the red (it seems to be grounded or negative) and the others don't do anything at all when i touch them to red..
I know the basics of this diagram, and can trace wires, but, it doesn't help me to know which combination the "on" setting of the key emulates or visa versa.....
Like i mentioned, this is a kick start bike. it does not have an electric starter on it.
QUESTION TWO:
does it seem by looking at this diagram that all of the light bulbs have to be in working order to maintain a closed circuit / for it to run / for it to start???????
i can't imagine that an out blinker would kill the bike, but... i have a sneaking suspicion that a tail light or a head light just may. they supposedly used the bulbs for regulators back in the day.
any assistance is much appreciated in this matter.
