With the iPhone on AT&T, is messaging included in the required $30/month data plan?

With the iPhone on AT&T, is messaging included in the required $30/month data plan?

My girlfriend and I are considering switching to AT&T and getting iPhones, but the plan shopping is a little confusing. It says the iPhone requires a $30/month data package which includes unlimited data.

My question is, when you purchase the $30 a month data package, does that include messaging, or do you need to purchase a separate messaging plan as well?

Messaging is separate. While I love my iphone the price does get up there. I have the lowest amount of minutes but 1000+ messages a month, my bill is about $100.00.
The data package is just for internet, email, 3g, etc.
