A New Jersey woman who was hit in the face with a baseball at a Little League game two years ago is now suing the catcher who threw the ball.

Elizabeth Lloyd is seeking more than $150,000 in damages to cover medical costs plus an undefined amount for pain and suffering. At the time of the incident, she was sitting at a picnic table near a fence-in bullpen.

The catch Matthew Migliaccio, who was 11 years old at the time, was warming up the pitcher. The lawsuit, which was filed in April, alleges the boy’s throw was “intentional,” “reckless” and “assaulted and battered” Lloyd. The woman is claiming the errant ball caused “severe, painful and permanent” injuries. A second count alleges the young catcher’s actions were negligent and careless through “engaging in inappropriate physical and/or sporting activity” near the woman.

Now if Lloyd really has an enormous amount of doctor’s bills and permanent injuries, we can definitely feel for her. But suing an 11 year old boy for overthrowing the pitcher is ridiculous.
