Catalan researchers have studied the socioeconomic and health inequalities experienced by people over the age of 64. The results of the study show that women live longer, but experience more limitations to daily activity (53%) and a lower quality of life than men of the same age (30%). Although women have a longer life expectancy, they experience a much greater prevalence of disability in old age than men do.
