I don't really know how you could get that addicted... You just need some self control (and I've played it a lot but I know when to stop i.e during term time) - you've got to realize that you have no obligation whatsoever to people on WoW, don't play with them if you've got work to do!

The idea behind the whole game is groups of (40/25/10) people getting together at a PRE-ARRANGED time and place in the game to do something. The something would generally be highly organised in advance, requiring precision, timing, knowing your particular role, strategy and TIME.

Often if people want to do this pre-arranged thing (which is fun undoubtebly), they must "sign-up" in advance. If they sign up, and they get a call an hour before from mates... well, they have made a commitment to the other people (and have taken a spot from someone else who would love to go). Its all about that. If they dont sign up, they cant come.

You wouldnt make a commitment to your mates and then turn around an hour before and say "sorry heading out bye!".

Doesnt mean I agree entirely, but im just trying to let people understand.

My little brother used to be a fiend for this game. He's stopped playing it now and managed to sell his charater on ebay for آ$120 lol.

Seems pretty repetetive and dull to me, though atleast its social with the headsets.

I think it's a brilliant game, I was quite addicted for a little bit when I first started playing, but that was early 2005. I don't play for months at a time now, but really enjoy it when I go back. I don't know how people let it ruin their lives. I don't really do raids at all, have never joined one of those really obsessive, nerdy guilds and don't use it for socialising - that's what real life is for.

I'e played it on and off for about 18 months without being addicted. It's good fun - but it's not the game's fault if you don't have enough self control to not get addicted.

I used to play the game when it was first released (5th Feb 2005?). I played it really OTT for about 4 months (I was in upper 6th form). People laugh and disparage the thought that a person can be addicted to a computer game but looking back I really can't believe how bad I got. I never missed college for it though and managed to nail my exams but the guy I used to play with failed his first year of university because of it.

I'm a pretty balanced person with no latent issues or self control problems... WoW was a black hole and tbh it crosses my mind to go back to it and I have done. But never to the same extremes as those black days...

Not only is it a life destroyer but it's actually a really bad game! A game that also carries a subscription, so effectively you're paying a monthly fee to destroy you life? That's just plain silly!

At least destroy your life playing a worthwhile game, like Call of Duty or CS!

Are you also considered the most modest?

I have never played WoW myself, but I know a few people at school who do. Incidentally, one of them dropped out of school and now apparently spends all his time playing :lolwut: A small minority, I'm sure (I hope :p: )

If someone wants to play, then all things in moderation and let them enjoy the game? :dontknow:

Not really :p: played on and off with real life friends and with my ex, never let it get in the way of work/exams or actually socialising with aforementioned friends. It's always just been there to fill any particular dull afternoons and evenings rather than anything else, haha.
