Would a rubbermaid container be as good as a tank?

I have two turtles a red eared slider and painted turtle, they're both currently in a 20 gallon tank, I also have a 10 gallon tank
Small I know, but the tanks 40+ gallons are REALLY expensive and we're not made of money
Would a large clear rubbermaid container be as a good as a tank?
