non-Biblical contexts? After days of research, I've come to the conclusion that Christians believe that Jesus lived a perfect life and was therefore an ample sacrifice to serve as the payment for original sin.

This seems conceptually unfair to me. Let's say someone was being tried for the raping and murdering of (to give an arbitrary number) 47 women over the course of 10 years. Could a twenty year old, straight-edge guy step up and take the death sentence for him? Would society respond to this positively?

If not, then why the double standard?

Well if you're Muslim, then you must support me for condemning the idea of vicarious punishment.
@Chris
Well you're giving me vicarious punishment in a Biblical context (slightly altered for the sake of your "argument".) The question is talking about vicarious punishment in non-biblical contexts.

You miss the part to understand Jesus GAVE His life for sinners. Human logic is bias to address death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the purpose of this perfect sacrifice.

Would you accept having a calf if you became pregnant in a non-marital context?

You misinterpret the concept.
Your example is flawed in that it ignores the reality that ALL were guilty, there could be no other to step up.
God, in Christ, chose to pay the penalty himself.
But the substitution has to be accepted.
There were those in Nazi camps who chose to die in exchange for others
