let's say we were traveling to a destination like europe in a plane. would we get there faster if we traveled in the opposite direction that the earth is turning?. does it matter? do planes all fly the same direction?

I understand what you are saying. You are trying to understand if there would any sort of time dialation if you travelled in the opposite direction of the earth's rotation. Probably not...as we would know about it...well probably not that great anyways. The speed is relative for any direction...it would seem. You'd have to be flying close to the speed of light to get any real significant time reduction.

nopes, we travel against the air which is steady for us, but moving with the ground at the earth's speed, dragging us
so our speed is ALWAYS relative to ground, not to the speed of the planet, which moves all at once, atmosphere included
