of the time and the shoulde? r roll and a lot of those defensive tactics wouldn't work......you will get kicked or slammed in the ground...i'm a fan of boxing but I know UFC is much closer to a street fight
Boxing is very limited you can only use your hands

no
only one person should be on the ground in a fight the one that lost the other should be standing

most street fights dont end on the ground. that statistic was a bs myth made up by the gracies, who solo purpose was to exploit bjj.
the statistic is more like 40% of both go to the ground.

there are many reason you dont one to be on the ground the most important one is when someone else jumps in.

MMA, the sport that the UFC is the major promotion, is the closest combat sport to a street fight. But, you can use ground work in a street fight. You can get slammed/kicked in a street fight. You can be choked out in a street fight.

To be prepare for all the uncertainties that are involve in a real fight you must master all type of fig thing ranges and modes. Jujitsu is the more suitable system for this task. Yes, my friend jujitsu train in boxing and karate style strikes as well. If you want to prevail in a real life confrontation go with combat/traditional jujitsu. Jujitsu train in boxing, karate, judo ,aikido, ground fighting, throws, tackles, joint locks and more. But don't get fooled with Brazilian Jujitsu, you really don't want to be taken to the ground in the ghetto were your attackers' friends will pulverize you. Brazilian jujitsu emphasizes too much in ground fighting that's why I don't consider it 100% suitable for street self defense. In a real fight you don't look to go to the ground with your attacker or allow him to do it to you. You want to defend yourself using standing up techniques and go to safety. If somebody has to be thrown that should be your attacker not the defender. If because of circumstances beyond your control you are taken to the ground then you most know how to defend effectively in this mode of fighting as well. Jujitsu teaches you all!
