...of good cheer and be glad,? His first miracle was changing the water into wine! of course it had another meaning, but let's face it he must have had many followers after that miracle!!

Yes there is a difference, I don't think Jesus was grim and long-faced, he was like us in his human state, of course there are people like that we know but Jesus would have no need gto be long faced, he came to set us free and loved dining with friends and the authorites. One needs to know that the Jews always enjoyed their feasts and music and life in spite of persecution..
He was like us in all things but sin and sin makes us unhappy, Jesus never appeared to be unhappy, only at the end.
 
With all due respect, but he was not an ordinary man, so even if he had a sense of humour , it wouldn't have been like today's pranks.
 
I dare you to show me one time where Jesus said be of good cheer and be glad

(not that he didn't say, I just don't think you've touched a bible.)
