maybe he didn't care what they think, i mean he must have known it would cause an outrage and he still went ahead with it.

if so he should have known how Muslims would have reacted to his book," The Satanic Verses"; after all there were many similar books written about Mohammad and all he authors used a pseudo name.
why didn't he do the same? he obviously wasn't suicidal since he did hide pretty well.
so what was the motive? was he used as a political tool in order to pour fuel over the fire and anger Muslims and strengthen the Muslim fanatics ie; Taliban ?and it didn't stop there either, he was given many rewards and prizes and later the knighthood ship by queen of England for this book! for sure queen and her advisers knew the consequences!
was he used as a tool for creating another "ism" ; terrorism to create fear and a war against in order to replace the war against the communism just as 9/11 was used ?
