Writing a sci-fi novel and I'm going crazy?

I'm in the middle of writing this great story, but I'm losing my ever-loving mind. I'm about thirteen chapters into this book, but I keep going back to change things. I can't get progress because I keep going backwards. Do you writers go through this? Any tips or words of encouragement you can share?

I"M GOING THOUGH THE SAME. Well, I was. No matter what, I just keep remembering to NEVER go back to change ANYTHING. If you get an idea just note it down, but don't go backwards. Keep writing forward and you'll get out of that habit.

Just get everything in your head down and then start changing in a second draft.
