DC once had a series called Sovereign Seven, which featured a character named Cruiser, who had to chow down in order to fuel his telekinetic powers.

In reguards to batman and super powers, i remember once in justice league where, i think it wos some kind of mind controller guy who had effectivly disabled the rest of the justice league in some waay or another, but i specificly remember batman comming to the resque the day as the bad guy says "but you don't have aby superpowers" an bm replied summthing like: "Oh but i have one jonny, i never give up" (super geek moment over)

well, fo rbatman I'd say he is a superhero, along the lines that he goes above and beyond the call of duty that most people could ever do. such as police or soldiers, some people might call them heroes (soemtimes, lol). but any other human being could do the same. Nobody else had the will or the ability/resources to do what Batman did, thus making him more than human. It's along the same lines as things people call "supernatural" something happening above and beyond what is natural or normal.

meh, i dunno, I just like bm because he is a semi-psycho badarse.

"Supernatural" means beyond what is natural NOT what is normal. We don't call white tigers 'supernatural', they're just highly exceptional animals.

The whole point is that he's just a man, an exceptional man, but NOT a superhero. Any other person could do what Batman does, if they were determined enough. You can't say the same about a 'hero' who has superpowers because normal people just don't have those abilities.

Batman MADE HIMSELF become what he is. He didn't just wander in the wrong cosmic ray shower/gaofftopic radiation burst/radiactive spider and suddenly go "hey I'm a superhero". So any of us could choose the same course. Sure he has a lot of money but with enough determination WE can make a lot of money too - if Batman didn't have all his resources he'd still be out fighting crime. That's what makes him superior to 'superheros', who'd be lost without their powers.

By this line of thinking, neither Green Lantern nor Iron Man are superheroes, since they both rely on gadgets.

Here's a notion: Superheroes can do what regular heroes cannot because they're not real.

No matter how rich, gifted, and dedicated you are, you can't train yourself to be Batman. Sorry. Try that rooftop stuff, and you'll be street pizza. Ditto with dodging bullets from an automatic weapon. It's a great story ( I'm a fanboy from way back), but it's just a story. Enjoy it for what it is.
