Xbox 360 composite hd v hdmi?

I've heard that hdmi is better than composite

But the thing is my tv is only 1080i, will it make any difference at this resolution?

I currently use the composite cable included with my xbox
Is it worth opening the hdmi cable i bought at gamestop or should i just return it?

there pretty much the same, the hdmi cable i got was slightly blurred/smoother edges but has richer colours, i had to put it on 720p but it was the same quality, if you get used to the changes the hdmi is worth it
