Hi,
Im thinkin about buying the Xbox Elite which comes with 120Gb Hard Drive but I'm wondering will it play divx films - I've read it does & I've read it doesn't so.....
Also if it does play them can they be stored on the 120Gb hard drive - I have also read this can & cannot be done....?

I'm confused!

So if anyone knows for certain coud you help me out please-Thanks

It does play DivX movies but only from a memory stick or USB devce (and the movie has to be .avi or .wmv encoded as far as I know). You also need XBOX Live to do it as it will ask you to download an update before it plays. No movies apart from ones downloaded from the markeplace can be stored on the Hard Drive

If I remember correctly, 360 only supports .wmv I believe. I don't recall mp4's even working but they may.

So, you would have to use a converter program to go from DivX to .wmv, thus losing a bunch of quality. I had a free program to do this, but it expired so I deleted it. Look around for a good free file converter somewhere on the net.
I currently download DivX torrent movies and would love to actually see them played on 360 in DVD quality. So far they are very blotchy and of low quality when I play them on an lcd tv through 360.
