she seems to want attention, and starts to whine yet she doesn't stop when she gets the attention, i don't get it, i know shes not in pain so what else can it be????
It what puppies do when they miss their family, but unlike human babies when they cry you pay attention, you are actually suppost to stop paying attention, and only pat attention to puppy when he quiet.
By paying attention to him when he crying, you are simple encouraging negative behaviour in dog language. If you want to stop negative behaviour simple ignore it.
Dog haven't got a huge sound vocabulary - its barking, growling, howling and whining and that's about it.
Here are some of the most common reasons why dogs whine.
1. They are seeking our attention - this is most common and tops the list of reasons.
2. Our dog may be uncomfortable. This could mean he/she is cold, wet or hot etc..
3. Dogs will whine if they are in pain.
4. It is common for a dog to whine if he/she is not comfortable in a new environment. Whining in a dog crate is a very common behavior.
5. The dog may be bored or lonely.
6. A dog who whines may need to go to the toilet (or has already soiled his sleeping area).
7. Dogs with unused energy will often whine - the energy has to come out somehow!
8. A hungry or thirsty dog will often cry or whine.
9. Many dogs whine because it works - we reward them for it!
10. The whining may be a symptom of canine separation anxiety.
11. If your dog is whining take a step back and consider whether he/she is involved in the family, loved and properly exercised?
It can just be a phase. My German Shepherd did that until she was a year and would howl and/or bark all night every day just to get attention. Once I went to her she'd stop and start all over again once I'd leave or whom ever went to check on her. It all depends though because my dog was way to loving with everyone and always wanted attention. She ruined my backyard by tearing up anything and everything that could break and digging constantly. I should also add that my Mom gave her away not only because she was a nuisance, but a horrible guard dog that warmed up to my creepy nosy neighbors who would pet her on purpose to be jerks and are always following my families every motion whether it's going outside and just so happening to go outside when we do, coming out when people come over, walking in my front yard and letting their dogs mess with my dog when its behind a screened fence which probably made my dog bad. Just don't give up on your dog yet unless you truly know that you can't handle taking care of it. Don't give your dog to an animal shelter if you plan on getting rid of it because theirs more stray animals on the loose and gasing is sooner then before for animals. The dog I got rid of, Lola, was given to a friend. My family tried to give it to the nearest animal shelter on a Wednesday and they were already planning on putting it to sleep on Monday if no one bought her. We didn't want to have her, but not even close to letting her be put to sleep. Also, animal shelters and I think all pet shops mandatorily put tracking chips into animals now even when its not wanted by the future owners even for personal religious reasons.
