You call it religion , I call it relationship!?

Jesus himself said religion separated his people from God, as a Jesus follower I say that what really matters is a personal relationship with God, not religion, not tradition, not deeds,(although deeds and other practices or traditions are merely the FRUITS that comes from faith alone and obidience to God in accordance to his word, the bible.) Traditions and good deeds are important but God just as any other loving father on earth rathers a deep relationship with his sons and daugthers first. Christianity = not a relgion, a relationship!

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength’”.

You cant say you really love someone if you dont know that person at deep level, and have a relationship with that person.

This message is in strong opposition to the teachings in most churches which is one reason it is true.:geek:Just a few hours ago I was thinking of an experience I had a few years ago in a mega- church which has now had to declare bankruptcy. I wrote a letter to one of their senior pastors about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit which brings us into a personal relationship with Jesus.His letter to me indicated that he had no idea what I was talking about.:(

My standard answer
I have been a frequent visitor to the Yahoo! Answers “Religion & Spirituality” forum.
There, as well as in my personal life, I have been warned by various Believers in various Religions, that unless I subscribe to the ONE True Religion, I shall be cast into an eternity of torment.
In alphabetical order, the names of the religions I recall being warned by are: Baptist, Catholic, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormon, Muslim, Protestant, Seventh Day Adventist.
And, not threatening me with torment, but still suggesting I subscribe, Satanists have also informed me that Satanism is the only possible choice for a truly intelligent person.

My standard request is to ask a great favor from anyone who has a relationship with any sort of Supernatural Being who
A.Knows all things
B.Responds to prayers, and
C.Actually cares one way or the other whether I believe or not.

If your Invisible Friend cares so much about me, that (in your Friend’s opinion) I deserve to be punished for not believing, then, certainly, your Friend will answer your request, by providing the number.
Some of the same people who claim that living in this world tends to corrupt innocent children, who eventually will wind up in Hell, are the same people who will pray to their God to cure the child of an otherwise fatal injury or disease, thereby keeping the child in this world. But they will steadfastly refuse to pray to that same God for a three digit number, which would turn me away from doubting that their God really cares.

You play with jesus and get on your knees to service him. I guess you could call that an oral relationship. According to Bill Clinton, that's not sexual relations.

Why can't you just call it a religion and a relationship?

Edit- christianity is a religion. It meets all of the criteria.
Definition- a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
