Hey birdy.. very interesting question. My considerations is that there was much that had to be in place before the Lord could be incarnated, to be the Seed of the Woman prophesied in Genesis. For this God had to call a race from among men through whom He could be born of to be the Savior of the mankind. We see in the Divine Trinity, that whenever God makes an appearance on the earth, He does so in the Person of the Son. We see Him appearing as a Man in the Old Testament, not by way of incarnation ( being born of a virgin) but by taking on humanity as a grown adult.
Gen 32 is very interesting. Where we see the Lord dealing with Jocob, the one from whom the 12 tribes of Israel would come.
26 And the man said, Let Me go, for the dawn is breaking. But Jacob said, I will not let You go unless You bless me.
27 And He said to him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And He said, Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked Him and said, Please tell me Your name. But He said, Why is it that you ask My name? And He blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, for, he said, I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been preserved.
We see the Person of the Son making an appearance with the Three hebrews in the fiery furnace during the Babylonian reign of King Nebuchadnezzar
Daniel 3.
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Abraham was visited by the Lord along with two angels. The two angels went ahead to rescue Lot from Sodom and the Lord had a meal with Abraham that Sarah cooked while both He and Abraham spoke regarding the fate of Sodom based on the amount of righteous men there. As we know, Lot was the only one.
Gen 18:1
The LORD appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.
We see the Lord again as the High Priest ministering bread and wine to Abraham after his battle in Gen 14:18
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God
These are just some of the accounts that speak regarding the activities of the Son of God prior to being known as JESUS, Jehovah our Savior.
God in His divine trinity, after the creation of the heavens and the earth, then dealing with fall of Adam ( created race) then worked to call Abraham ( called race) in order to have a way to be brought into humanity as the Seed of the Woman. The Son was very active and involved in all these happenings.
Satan has tried to frustrate what God has planned to do and even though it took thousands of years, to produce persons who would respond to God's call and desire, eventually the Lord was able to enter into humanity in a genuine way, as an actual Seed of the Woman, the Seed of Abraham and the Seed of David in order to be our blessed Redeemer.
He interceded, He arranged, made appearances in many ways, He worked with men and woman, from the chosen patriarchs, to the nation of Israel in the Old Testament until He Himself could be Jesus, the Savior. Its interesting birdy, that He was not called Jesus until the New Testament.
Matthew 1:21
And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.
All I can say is that the Son of God was very busy working to accomplish the Plan of the Divine Trinity and even from the beginning, He knew that God would call many to be conformed to the Image of the Son.
Romans 8:29
Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers.
This was known in eternity past, something in God's foreknowledge and something He predestinated. Thus God, as the Word, created the heavens, the earth and man in His image and Likeness. The Son knew that He would eventually become a Man on the earth and as this Man, who as the Lamb of God, was slain from the foundation of the World, He knew what had to be done and He did it.
I just praise the Lord for being so driven to carry out what was in the Heart of God.
Ty for the question sister.
Very thought provoking.
He was not separate from God before that. He WAS God then.
1st Timothy 3:16 says God was manifest in the flesh (not "God the Son")
The Son of God began at the conception when the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary.
See Hebrews 1:5
"For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?"
Logic tells us when a Son is begotten, that is a beginning.
("trinity" doctrine is not logical -- it is gobbledegook)
God joined Himself to humanity.
Isaiah 35:4-6
"Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert."
When Jesus was born, He left his heavenly abode. He had always been with God and was still fully God (Trinity), but now he was made into FLESH (a requirement to satisfy being tempted). After being BORN he was also 100% man (meaning he could be tempted).
The Word, who was God and who created all things ( John 1:1-3 ) "was made flesh, and dwelt among us" ( John 1:14 ) He always has been and always will be God, so he was with God the Father before he became flesh.
