Hello Everyone! I am a 25 year old female who has planned a trip for this summer. I shall be traveling overseas ALONE for the first time to the Caribbean island of Dominica (not to be confused with the Dominican Republic). The purpose of my trip is to visit a good friend who currently resides upon the island (they have been born and raised there). My flight and hotel reservations have been made. As excited as I am to be taking this trip, I am also nervous and realize that many precautions must taken. I was hoping that all of you out there can offer me your advice pertaining to the following topics: 1. The necessary precautions (especially since I am a female traveling alone). 2. Should I carry cash or a credit card? 3. Should I have my passport upon my person at all times? 4. How should I store my belongings ?(meaning the ones to be left behind in the hotel room and while I am out and about).5. What are the illnesses I should be aware of while in that particular region? 6. What vaccinations/immunizations should I obtain before leaving?7. What precautions should I take regarding food and water? 8. While exploring areas, what should I be aware of? 8. Anything else anyone wants to offer.
