Your geekiest hobby?

I love this thread. I spend hours reading about things online. Might be historical articles, might be the history of a programming language, or some mathematical theorem, but I research things that come into my mind and spend the next few days finding out more about them. Oh and forums and general internet geekery.

Linux, Programming, Reading absolute random articles on the t'Internet and Internet/File sharing Politics. :o:

I actually quite like your cities, I'm reading through the links you posted

I don't know your brother, but he sounds like a geek ;D

Mine is the same as my ihav name. I went on Arcanist just then, I don't get it xD

Runescape ftw ;D

im not sure but i'm a wikipedia addict. its actually incredible the amount of worthless self knowledge i have developed from wikipedia. go on that site everyday and read up about random ****. Also im startin to get into this ihav ****. thats kind of nerdy as well

laptops were just starting to exist when I was a kid, and they were super expensive and I used to think how cool and james-bond-like it'd be to have one

now i'm a big boy with my very own shiny laptop and I still remember that feeling, and I love just using it and making it do cool new things

i love finding random programs that simulate rollercoasters, find out peoples' wireless passwords, whatever... and you can have a great time just mashing together a song with a bunch of people using the little snippets of music in garageband, or taking stupid distorted photos and so on...
oh and making games! hard work but damn if it doesn't feel cool to be able to try out your own little ideas.

technically this makes me a computer geek but as far as i'm concerned it's like a little xbox!!

I know one of the guys that runs that, oddly enough through my 'true' hobby of playing with toy soldiers (table top wargaming, mainly Warmaster-based, although still the occasional bit of WH or 40K).

I also do a fair bit of gardening, and stuff around the house that requires me to get out my Ryobi cordless combi-drill. Maybe you could include looking at the Screwfix catalogue and pining after new power tools...

Oh and of course laughing at teenagers and twenty-somethings here. I really must find somewhere else to leach my often not-quite-so-spare time from me. Hmm, maybe I should go back to my wargaming forums...

One thing I do find with pretty much any hobby, is that you end up spending far more time talking (even if it is online 'talking') about it than you ever spend actually doing said hobby. Bloody internet, I read far less books since it stopped costing an arm and a leg for home internet access, and I'm definately far less productive and more easily distracted than was once the case...

It's cool to see how many girls on here have pretty interesting hobbies, instead of the chavvy layabouts that I meet day-in, day-out in real life who care about nothing more than make-up, guys and getting pregnant.

Where are the ihavians in real life? :o:

I play the Viola. Nuff said.

:nopity:

(Though, at least it's an actual skill I can use)

Reading fantasy, playing piano, playing minesweeper, talking world politics:] Oh and I forgot - I played Oblivion as well!

and plus the fact that edgware was going to be extended further and you can still see some of the relics of the stopped extension at the station and one of the banks across the street's vaults is part of the closed extension.. etc.
