Youtube banned in Turkey, is this homophobic?

Youtube is banned in Turkey because some people where showing their ex president as gay. Is this homophobic or what? If he was gay what's the problem and why to hide it? If he wasn't what's the problem again? They have history over funny videos to "defend" his memory.
