will a standard wifi adapter usb work for a Sony blue ray player? or do i have to shell out the crazy $70 that Sony wants for theirs?

I want to connect it to the internet, but I need a LAN adapter. I looked it up online, but the places that do have it are out of stock. Can I use a different LAN adapter instead? Is there a different way to connect the blue-ray to the internet? Any help is greatly appreciated. :)
