If water gets IN the alternator it will make a dead short, then bye- bye alternator. You may be lucky and just have water and mud in a loose connnection, insulating it from doing its job of moving power from the battery.

There seems to be a very few places I can find a soft top for a 85 Bronco. Plenty if you have a 60's-70's Bronco. I only found I website for a fastback top but it was pricey. None on Ebay. At the least, mabye a design to make my own. Thanks.
