I have a honda elite ch80 1985 and there is a fluid leaking where the front cables go up to the handle bars. I don't think its brake fluid cause i heard that can eat up at the scooters frame and nothing seems to be harmed yet. what are some possible answers that this could be?

I recently replaced my manual transmission fluid with a 75-90 synthetic gear oil, this was about 3 months ago. I just recently learned that I was supposed to put "synchromesh" gear oil in. Will this hurt my transmission? Im trying to find the right oil now.
