I have a 1999 Grand Caravan and it has recently been suddenly accelerating for about 15 seconds then going back to normal. Even when in park, it will suddenly increase rpms for 15 seconds then back to normal idle speed. What might be the problem?

I have heard that the new diesels, Dodge I know of for sure, aren't supposed to idle. This is a MAJOR problem for me and I need to get a new truck for work. I really don't want to shut the truck down when its below zero and I am working! Thanks!
It is actually my boyfriend's 05 Grand Cherokee, but we were driving around tonight and keep noticing that while were at red lights the idle RPMs will rise and fall sporadically. This has been happening for about three days now so its a concern to us what might be going on.
If it helps, today...
Its a 2.0L with a 2bbl carb. and I ran it out of gas a week ago due to the fuel gage being wrong and ever since then it hasn't been idleing right, any seggestions please?

I have a 2002 subaru outback with a v6 engine. it has 112000 or so miles on it. when i start the car in the morning, it idles at 2000+ rpms; the needle moves up and down as if the engine is revving. once the car is warm, it idles below 1000. is this a problem?
also, when i drive 60-70 mph...

my 1997 Jeep GC 4x4 4.0 won't idle. the engine will only start and run if i keep my foot on the pedal. after a few minutes of that then it work, but if i just do a normal start it won't stay in idle.
My four wheeler runs fine if I stay on the gas a little bit but once it drops to a low rpm it just stalls and I think its the idle but I cant find where its at. I know its on the carb somewhere but not exactly
My 240 has had a high idle (roughly 1300-1500 RPMs) after I rebuilt the bottom end and timing chain components, the weird thing is that when I stop and apply the clutch the RPMs shoot up to about 1300 to 2000RPM then when I apply the brake it goes down a little, I still need to check the AAC...
OK, i left my lights on all night and my battery died. I charged the battery and it cranked right up but now every now and then my truck will shut off while im idling in drive or reverse. It will idle fine in park and runs fine if i keep my RPMs above 500, and when it does shut off it will crank...
Engine Performance problem
1999 Chrysler Cirrus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 103000 miles
I notice that when at a stop while in gear, my rpms will drop down to the first line (500?) and the oil light will come on. The engine acts like it wants to die but doesn't.
also, I've had a mechanic...
When the car is in drive, but stopped it vibrates excessively, as if it is idling just a little too low to be clean. this goes away after i put the car into park or neutral, the car stops the vibration. any guesses?
I found the connector I needed for the Idle Air Control valve at a local junk yard for my 93 GMC Sonoma pickup. After installing it the idle is way to high. I know the engine is computer controlled. How do I get the idle back down to normal?
