judo

If i add Goju-Ryu Karate to Judo do i get a style like Jujutsu? I would get striking, sweeps etc from Goju-Ryu and the grappling and ground fighting from Judo. Wouldn't adding the karate techniques make the style more like Jujutsu/JuJitsu?

Is Shotokan Karate a good compliment to Judo esp in relation to self defence? I'm thinking of training 3 nights a week. Week one- Judo twice and Shotokan once and Week two- Judo once and Shotokan twice. Would this be good and would it help me create a decent self defence style?

Im thinking of doing judo (because bjj lacks strong takedowns) but I want to know how hard it would be to apply any of its throws if there aren't any gi's being worn at the time the throws are applied. Also, if its recognized by the National Judo Associations that means its a good school right?
