I just purchased a used 2005 Ford Focus and I'm wondering if I can use the cigerette "cigar" lighter as a phone charger plug. I have already without problems but I want to make sure it's safe and won't damage my phone.
Just to add detail, here's a picture or the plug...

My car's cigarette lighter always stays on regardless of whether or not the car is on or off.
Is it OK to leave my phone charger plugged in (it always has this little red light on it even if the phone itself is disconnected)? If so, how long is it safe to do it? Will it automatically shut off...

Am currently driving a N Reg Rover 416 car, and i have run into problems with the cigar lighter. I recently purchased an adapter to charge my phone in the car. When I plugged it in, there was a bang and smoke started coming out of the adapter. There were no blown car fuses, and the radio etc all...
i have a 2001 ford taurus and i have two cigarette lighters. I checked all the fuses and one was bown so i replaced it. Now only one of my cigarette lighters works...what could be wrong with the other one?
I have been searching around the internet & most people say the cigarette lighter fuse is either #46 or #47. My problem is I cannot figure out where the cigarette lighter fuse is located or how to go about changing it.
