How do I search usenet for something without paying for it? If I can find what I am looking for then I will buy the service. What is the official usenet since there seems to be many sites for it like usenet.org usenet.com and usenet.nl?
I really don't want to pay $20 for giganews. I have USENETSERVER right now, but I continually keep getting article not found errors. I usually download from nzbmatrix. I heard astraweb is good. Any opinions?
When I check how much I have downloaded for the month through my providers website, I have on-peak usage (2,000MB/7,000MB for example) then I have off-peak usage and then upload usage. But then after that it says Newsgroup usage and it says 0/7,000MB. What is it?

...back newsgroups? We used to have newsgroups, but it was taken away because of the porn, but what about all of the other newsgroups, the ones that are legal and in good taste? I see no reason for taking that away from everyone who has an account with ATT Yahoo DSL ?

I'm subscribed to a mailing list, php.install under news.php.net. I use Mozilla Thunderbird to view the latest postings and respond to a posting. Every time I do that, I get an e-mail from the server's abuse department. The message always opens with:

Can anyone point me to an active newsgroup or forum or message board for a new person living in Calgary ? I'm looking to ask local "about town" questions, like a good place to take classical guitar lessons, etc. I've tried the Calgary.general newsgroup but it's basically 'dead'.

I need step by step directions on how to create a binary file to send to a newsgroup. I use Max OSX Snow Leopard and can't figure out how to do it from some of the complicated explanations I've found online.
Can someone give me simple, 1, 2, 3 directions?
