subwoofer

I have a JBL PSW-D110 home theater subwoofer that is making a constant, popping sound when ever the power cord is plugged in. The volume is turned all the way down, but it is popping like crazy. I wondered if it was a grounding issue, but the cable doesn't have a ground prong.

I found a little box to fit an acura rsx, however it only has .55 cubic feet of airspace. I was hoping to put an Alpine SWR-1023D 10" Type R Subwoofer with a Alpine MRP-M500 - 1 channel amp, will this work well or is the enclosure too small (recommended airspace is .75 cubic feet for the sub)?
