I'm hopefully going to have my tonsils removed at some point this year, but I was curious to know how long after surgery it would take until I can scream/sing again doing 20/30 minute sets in my band. And also would it improve my vocals?

i need to take off the vocals from a song, we're using a sound system and i was wondering if anyone knew which nobs and to what frequency to turn them to
it on myspace? Like if i added my own vocals to an instrumental and put it online, would that be illegal/copyrighted? even if i acknowledge the original artist.
cover songs are what i am talking about, only i cant play an instrument, that's why i was thinking of using other peoples...
for techniques, is allowing the screamer to hold the mic (say a SM57) and cup it like he/she would live or is it better to let them scream into a large diaphragm condenser on a mic stand (not touching the mic with their hands)?
Any advice on EQing & compressing the screams as well?
