What is the fair market price of a 1907 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, High Relief, Flat Rim? How about insurance coverage/replacement value? I've found purchase prices ranging from $6k to $24k, and I would appreciate something more specific.
 
Coin condition is often more crucial in determining value than is scarcity. You might want to post a photo of the coin so the condition could be evaluated here. Having said that, the 2009 edition of "A Guide Book of United States Coins" lists the retail value as $9500 for very fine condition (MS-20) to $13,500 for almost uncirculated. Your sighting of a $24,000 price would require a nearly perfect coin. If you insure it, be certain to keep quality photos of the obverse and reverse sides of the coin, plus one taken of the edge.
