I am a beginner, road a dirt bike once. I found someone selling their Honda XR200 for $400. Its been sitting for two years. He says it needs fuel cleaning and minor tune up. Ive been fixing dirt bikes awhile so I can easily do that. I have a few friends who also ride so I will have help and I don't want something too slow where I cannot keep up with them. Is it worth buying for a beginner?

i had an xr 250 new about that year. i was a good trail bike. not real fast like a cr250 2-stroke , but it had enough power to go anywhere and ride hard, it was my 2nd bike and i loved it. just beware thats a cheap price if thats all thats wrong with it youd be doin good, make sure it has compression, and turns over good. one thing i will tell you dont ride it high in the rpms like a 2 stroke you will blow it up. i got mine new and was used to my little YZ80 which screamed, i rode my xr like that and blew it up 3 times in 6 months, the guys at honda were not happy warranteeing it. they finally talked to me and told me to keep the rpms down which is how you ride a 4 stroke and it will last, any way it did!! once i quit treating it like a high winding race machine!!

if there is nouthing majorly wrong with it then i would say YA!!!
