Alllllrighttttt.... well. Glad you guys could make it haha
Anyways, I swapped out the fuel pump and fuel filter today since the pump was next to toast. It got to the point I was having to smack the tank with a rubber mallet a couple times in order for the pump to engage before I could start her up. So I said enough with that and bought a pump and filter from Rock Auto and installed her today (took 3 hours all together).
The pump looked nearly identical to the one that I pulled out of her, except the new one was white and the old one was brown. Each had the two little 'nipples' up top but the wiring harness, instead of being connected to three different spots on the top, was connected to only one (and ended up being about 4 inches shorter than OEM). Still, she went back in and connected to everything without a hitch.
I had about an 1/8th of a tank when I got everything back together. On the way to the store, I noticed the needle moved like it usually did (changing levels depending if I was on an incline or not) so I checked it off as good to go and went ahead and filled her full of fuel. I noticed when I got back in and turned the key though, the needle didn't climb. It stayed flat on E. I busted out my trusty rubber mallet, gave her a few whacks, and the needle rose 1/2 way and stopped. I smacked her again and she climbed all the way to the top.
So I'm wondering, what could have gone wrong? I'm going to check the wiring harness in the morning and double check that it's still together but other than that I'm out of ideas.
Ughh... what a headache.
