The whining noise seems like it is coming from under the car, maybe the rear end. It is a manual. While driving, I could have my foot ever so slightly on the gas pedal, and it makes a whining noise. As soon as I let my foot off the gas, it stops making the whining noise. It puzzles me, but what could it be? It just gets really annoying.

does it make the noise when you are sitting still and out of gear? if so it could just be a vacuum leak, if you think it is possible to be a vacuum leak, I can post some ways to track it down. if it is only when in gear and driving, it could be a synchronizer in the tranny.

My car did the same thing. It turns out that I had backed over a carhop when I was at the drive-in, getting a root beer float.

Sounds like the transmission. Thats what happens when you start cramming gears with a stock t5. Start saving your money for a tremec tko transmission.
