1995 Honda civic LX, speedometer still not working..Any HELP!!?

on my 1995 civic LX the speedometer Still don't work after i just put in a brand new speed sensor, and the odometer don't work at all..I looked good at the connector that plugs into it and it looks good to me.so why is the speedo or odometer not working..and every one was telling me to put in a new speed sensor..now im out $130 bucks i don't have..can any one HELP!!..Thanks
