1997 ford ranger only the defroster is working in my truck?

thermostat was stuck open and i replaced that but i can't get the air to blow out of the other vents hot. when i first got this truck it had the hottest heater I have ever seen and now it is really weak. just wondering if their is air in the line or if it is my heater core? Or is a fan
 
The linkage on the blend door has broken. Very common on those. It defaults to the defrost position.
 
Do you hear the fan come on when you turn the heat on? You should, if you don't, its the fan. If its really weak, you most likely have low coolant or air in the lines/core. It is also possible that the vents are not being moved when you switch the position. Also, the wrong temp thermostat, or even improperly installed thermostat could cause this as well.
