1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Acceleration?

I own a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 2.0 .
since yesturday its like the throttle is sticking once i hit 40 and wants to keep accelerating and running fast.. i have to brake ride.i have checked the throttle cable and everything is fine there.
any clue what this could be
 
The only problem that will make your car to accelerate more will the throttle cable. If you have Cruise controller you should check it out too. My best advise let someone look at that has more experience.
