This question to you all is a bit complicated so I hope you can follow, firstly:
- I have a 2000 GMC Sonoma SLS 4.3L V6
- The truck has an automatic starter/ automatic locks/ alarm factory installed.
- The headlights come on automatically at dusk without having to throw the switch to engage the lights manually.
So my issue is that for some reason while driving whether in the dark or in the light the battery gauge flexuates heavily towards the lowerside of amperage. Something is seriously draining the power off the battery like crazy and I am no sure what. I have nothing installed in the truck that would require any extra power ei. subwoofer, amp, dvd player, etc. A close friend of mine said it might be the daytime light relay switch. I dont know to much about car electronics and not to sure what to make of the situation. The issues first started while accelorating to pass or any real sudden power boost from the accelorator. Now as time goes on the battery guage inside the truck drops and holds from seconds to minutes at a time while driving at normal speed. The battery alert light flashes along with it. So hopefully someone out there can help me out with a decent theory. Thanks again.
