2002 Saturn SL2 (Automatic) Transmission 70K miles?

November 2008 out of no where my car started acting funny. There was no warning light no nothing. At 5000 RPM's it would start slipping
out of gear. I took it to the dealership and they informed me that I needed a new Valve body. They replaced that, and did a few other thing and that was that $2000.

then 2 weeks ago my service engine soon light came on. On my way to the dealership (1 day after the light came on....It turned its self off)
The dealership told me that they found a transmission error (P0789) but that they didnt want to get into that because it could be an old error. They also told me that my thermostat, and thermostat sensor were bad and charged me $336 to fix that.

Then last Thursday my service engine soon light came on again. The next morning I took it back to the dealership. A couple hours later they told me that my car now had 3 error codes (P0741, P0740, P0789) and that it was my Torque convertor. They told be it was going to cost $2000 to fix. I told they basically to F*** Off, and left with my car.

I then took it to Midas to get a second opinion. They informed me that it was the torque convertor and that they would not fix it. (but told me that is would cost me $350 to fix) The reason they would not fix it is cause they said it was just going to continue to happen cause a part of my transmission is bad, They suggested getting a re-built transmission for $1600.

I then left and was on my way to work when I got a call from the dealership stating that my car problem might have been caused by the work they did in November. They then told me to bring it back on Tuesday (because Monday was a holiday)

Brought my car in on Tuesday @ 7am. They gave me a rental car and I was on my way. I got a call yesterday (Thursday) that my car was ready to be picked up, but that they couldn't fix the problem cause my service engine light would not come on. She told me that they put 70 miles on my car trying to get the light to turn back on, but it didnt happen.

Im a little confused here..... Friday they knew what the problem was and they told me $2000 would fix it. Now they are telling me that they cant, because they cant pin point the problem.

Now they are telling me to wait until the light comes on again to bring it back in.

Are they full of ****? Or do they just not want to fix my car? It seems to me that wether the light is on or off is shouldnt matter.

Any suggestions?
